71 100hp no top end power

Hi,
Boat was running good now I don't have the topend like it did. the only thing I did was take the air intake off and look at the butterflies, then put back, now no power

Are you sure that is all you did ??
Explain "no power" a little more for us all. RPM, performance, won't idle etc. What you did should not have altered anything unless you altered something within.

if you wiggled the fuel lines, you could now have crud in the carbs, ethanol.

Boat starts, gets going, but only 5-10mph. Originally had it to 35. I did adjust the height of the choke solenoid. so it would close completely on start-up.

you motor has a heat sensor choke,(like a choke on a car), there was a service bulletin to disconnect one of the purple wires on the buss bar, to disable that function. it caused the motor to flood out. also make sure the choke butterfly is going all the way back to horizonal.

Linkage to 1 carb was disconected. fired right up then overheated. what next?

Check your impellor and possibly thermostat.

was the therostat. Took it out and it ran great. put the new one in tonight, will have to wait to take it out again.
