Correct, side panels were over the second deck, but bottom of consoles are under the second deck. No worries about the side panels I will make new ones accordingly. Either way I was planning on using 3/4 ply for the new deck so side panels would have been off anyway. I plan on hydro tufting over the new deck as well.

Best way to remove those screws is with an angle grinder with a cut off wheel on it to zip those heads right off and it also works great on those loose large flange blind rivets :D

My one donor boat was also double decked, new over rotten. :embarassed:

Getting some work in this afternoon about 30 out right now. I think that's perfect demo weather.

Not sure if you decided on what you were going to do for your splash well, but I did have a custom one made to better utilize the space on my16ft. It would be a lot on the Transom vs trying a bracket.

Just my 2 cents

Nice work so far. I'm looking forward to seeing how the bracket turns out if you go that route. I hate flat head screws too - my screw gun always slips off them.

Iboats sells some epoxy and you can source it from other areas too. I used a company called Fasco when I did mine, but they were a lot cheaper back then.

As for quantity, I think I used about a gallon for the Transom and decking. I did multiple coats

Other option people use Rustoleum industrial paint. A lot cheaper and easier to source, but if I were to do it again I would still use epoxy.

If you plan on using epoxy resin where the sun will hit it be sure it's UV resistant, some are but most aren't and it will fail quickly. Or use epoxy and paint over it to block UV but then you're back to relying on the paint to preserve your wood.

Always feels good when you get everything pulled out. You may want to keep the front boards as a template. Its a little bit of a pain to remake without it.

Also, as you clean everything out, take some extra time to blow out the ribs for debris. So much gets caught up under it.

Well, the front most piece of deck is practically mulch that's why I didnt get into it this afternoon I'll get fresh eyes on it tomorrow to see if it salvageable, otherwise I'm thinking cardboard template the get the fitting right.

I'm in wisconsin, drove six hours to michigan to get it. Found it on facebook marketplace. For those of you looking for boats give FB marketplace a try. I feel like it's better the Craig's list. Same goes for selling things I have pretty good success on FB market place.

Got after some more of the deck this morning. As suspected the front most piece was mulch. Looks like I'll be making a template. Got some of the foam out. Remaining pieces are water logged= frozen bricks. Gonna see if some sun on them will loosen them up. High of 25 today so we will see.

Nice progress!!!

I am guessing you will pull the transom off too. When doing that, be careful with the aluminum cap you can't find a replacement and would have to have one custom made if you damaged it beyond repair.

Nice work. The boat looks so long with everything torn out. I've had good luck with FB marketplace too.

Winter progress is tough to come by, even small accomplishments add up. Looks like you going to be onto the clean up and hull repairs in no time.
