Wife just got back from another grocery run for 2 weeks worth of beer......

looks like we are planning a party for 50

this CV-19 thing has people coming out as a hunk, a chunk, or a drunk......

agenda for this afternoon,..... sketch up the revised storage closet for the cabin..... out with the old rotten bulkhead, in with the new bulkhead and closet. Learned to get the admiral's buy-in prior to execution

this evening..... cut out access holes under the seat support shelf. there is enough of a cavity there to store life vests on the starboard side and various ropes on the port.

Tomorrow ......

• sand down the rough fairing and skim-coat the final layer
• glass in revised step with lockable storage. going to be big enough for a pelican case that will house the electronics when not on the dash. (in the event water ever gets in the cabin)
• fair the floor
• cut out the new bulkhead and locker bits....and glass in the locker.
• foam cover the ceiling panels

Sunday.........

• assemble/staple the back to back seats
• assemble/staple the back seat rest
• gel coat the port-o-let cabin and the area under the seat shelf
• if the canvas comes in for the seat cushions, I will be upholstering the ceiling panels.

hope to get to gluing in the EVA and hull-liner...... however that may be aggressive by myself

the amount of beer/liquor that we get for a "2 week run" is enough for 50 people one night....

we are on our 7th 2-week run in 7 weeks

Ill have to remember that one Ted. Did alot of prep today for fairing. Sanding etc... They pulled the hose out of my lung yesterday so im feeling ok.
Gosh the weather is sweet today!! Gettin low on yumyum. Might have to switch over to the goods in my freezer. IDK

progress was slow Saturday.....

did get the shelf reasonably flat and did get the port-a-crapper cabinet faired.

the shelf was dropped in as two pieces, there is still some high spots, and some low spots, however it is not noticeable without a level.

so.... here is the recap..... without pics because the website photo hosting is "temporarily out of order"

last week

cut access holes into the two side shelves for stowage of rope and vests.

made a step with lockable storage (will be used to lock up valuables, etc. when we stop places)

yesterday, lots of fairing. doing half gel and half EVA foam. vertical surfaces in the cabin will be gel.

the walking surfaces EVA foam.

need to finish some pin-holes here and there in the fairing, however that will wait until tomorrow....

then roll on the gel (not going to spray, I want a slight texture)

then I can start gluing in the EVA and hull liner

the factory had a gap there, so I laid out a few strips of 1708 on plastic to make a 3/16" thick piece of fiberglass that I could glass into place....

first two pics show where the small amount of glass pulled up over-night....... what they dont show is me swearing and grinding it out

forgot to mention...... the ridgid shop vac that I have been using for about 5 years on this rebuild died a spectacular death this past weekend.....

the shop vac had been used for cleaning the pool area and had been swimming in the pool a few times (not good for longevity). then while grinding the fiberglass in the cabin, the filter assembly broke, allowing dust to go thru the motor..... so after fixing that, this past saturday, it started smelling like a hot electric motor, as I turned to look sparks were shooting out the top...... then flames and it stopped working......

so now using the craftsman (rebranded shop vac brand) with the bag. the better choice for shop vacs when vacuuming fiberglass dust. the bag is what makes the difference.

my guess, I have about 4200 hours in the boat so far..... not as productive working a few hours here, a few hours there, etc.... as it would be in a constant 10 hour + per day.
