    Compression test question

I am going to do a compression test on my 1986 Force 125HP, and I have read that you want to keep the spark plug wires grounded to avoid frying the electronics. My question is, can I just pull one plug at a time and simply keep the kill switch activated while I crank the engine, and, how would I...

    Water in the leg?

1986 Force 125hp--out on the water yesterday and took the motor cover off---the leg was full of water. Is this normal? This is the first time I have removed the engine cover while the engine was in the water, and I want to make sure that this is normal. Any comments appreciated greatly as always.

    Bad Pick up tube?

I have a 1986 Bayliner Capri 1950 bowrider w/ a 125 Force engine. My fuel gaugue does not work and the other day it appeared that i ran out of gas. Used my trolling motor to get in and have since filled the boat up. It only took about 20 gallons, but the motor fires right up like it always has...

Transom mount trolling motor on a Bayliner?

I want to install a transom mount trolling motor on my '86 Bayliner Capri. Not a lot of room on the transom to do this. Has anyone ever done it? Any ideas?

What size trolling motor do I use?

I want to put a trolling motor on my '86 Bayliner Capri. It is a 19', deep v-hull fiberglass boat. How much thrust do I need from the trolling motor, and does it matter if I mount it on the bow or on the transom? I am leaning toward the bow because it does not look like there is much room on the...

    No Spark

I have an '86 Bayliner with a 125hp Force outboard. Last fall, the last time I took the boat out, it ran as great as ever. Brought it home, put it in the garage. About a week later I pulled it out of the garage to winterize and flush the engine. It would not start. With the help of my neighbor...

    Slow Cranking '86 125hp

I have a 1986 Force 125hp. The engine is cranking over very slow, almost like the battery is dead. I checked the battery and it has 12V. I tested the voltage (bear with me, I am no electrical expert) where the battery cables come into the engine compartment. (A little round, black box that the...

    Used part compatability and prices

Can anyone give me some advisement here? I am looking to buy extra electrical components for my 1986 Force 125hp motor. I found someone who is parting out a 1990 Force 120hp motor. My questions are- Are the CDI boxes, coils, and starter motor compatible to my engine, and if so, is $200 a good...

    Water Flow Questions

1986 Force 125HP--I was getting little water flow and lots of steam the first time I had it on the water. Took off the lower unit, replaced the impeller, rest of pump and parts around it looked great. Still just spitting water. Took off the water plates on the engine to check for gunk--none...

    Electrical parts compatibility between engines

Can someone tell me if the CDI boxes and ignition coils off of a 1990 120hp Force will work in a 1986 125hp Force? They are both four cylinder and the boxes look the same, but I can not positively tell. I found a guy parting out the 120hp engine and I want to know what parts I could keep in...

Correct Spark plug for 125HP Force

Does anybody know if switching from Champion plugs to NGK plugs on a 1986 Force 125HP is a bad thing to do? I have always preferred NGK plugs but my local backyard boat mechanic told me that because of the "delicate" ignition systems that Force is known for, you should always use Champion plugs...
