It's time.

Well folks, it’s high time we get nominations underway for this year’s Starcraft Splash Of The Year (SOTY) for vessels declared as officially “Splashed” back into the water after significant refits, renovations, modifications, etc. All Iboats Website members are invited to nominate a favorite of any such Starcraft boat rebuilds reported by their owners as having been splashed in 2014. I understand that a maximum of 10 nominations will be accepted.

Please post your nominations in this thread and paste a link to the owner’s rebuild thread. Please don’t include pictures in this nominations thread. I will contact nominees by Private Message to confirm that they wish to be entered in the contest. I will add their info by updating this top-of-the-page post. Nominations up to a maximum of 10 will be accepted until midnight EST Jan 5, 2015. Please don’t be afraid to nominate your own creation.

After Jan 5, a new voting thread will be created (courtesy jbcurt?) that will show all nominees and links to their rebuild reports for your review. As in past years, I expect that 1 or 2 pictures of each entry will be included in the voting thread. You will be permitted one vote for your favorite. Voting will end at midnight EST January 15, 2015. - Grandad

No problem, I'd be happy to do the poll Topic when the time comes :target:

Thanks Grandad. Should be a good 'race' this year. Several great rigs to choose from.

Sorry H20 & others, gotta give my man Sig props this year for his flipper:

Here we go w/ the 16SS ~ AKA: The 90day flip boat Flipper

Alot of sharp boats this year in the red was gorgeous and we all know about Watermanns muscle boat. Its an honor to even be considered in the same company as these two great boat builders.

There is something to be said about a crew of guys that can take boats that are 50 years old and drag them out of a field rotten and splash 4 of them in 1 day.

Kudos to the Starmada no other group of guys could do what we all do for a love of history. Some for proffit some for fun some to revive history. One thing is for sure NO ONE can do what some of these guys do. And I have yet to see a Starcraft on the water that didnt turn heads.

One day I would LOVE to run some of these boats down the same lake.

If its a race though I am pretty sure no one wants to run as fast as H20 mans chief. Though I have heard rumors that there may be one boat somewhere that could hang with it.

I would like to place my Nassau in the hunt. I can pick any of my 2014 3 dozen or so splashes! I made it back to the ramp every time and the old gal ran like a champ all year!. NO tows. I think that's remarkable when dealing with a 48 year old hunk of iron, aluminum really. Here's the links to all my splashes........ I can't find them. :confused: Did I lose my pics with the forum upgrade? :facepalm:

Since I can't find my pics and until I do do, I'm placing the 1972 Chieftain re-do by Weep'n Willy in the Chase to the SOTY. Ya gotta love the Lean, Mean Fishing Machine when she's girded for battle and armed to the teeth. A true waterborne Amazon warrior! :D Willy has two threads, A Nitty-Gritty Start To Finish with everything you need or want to know thread and the Evelyn Woods Speed Read thread in the Completed Boat Projects for us droollers.

:rockon: Willy!

Grandad - No PM email notifications for the time being. Watch for the little red light with a number in the messages box beside your username way up on top of any forum page. That's all we have for now.

Thanks GA. I hope that all of the nominees are checking in regularly. I'm sending a PM to each as they are nominated and hoping that each nominee confirms with me their interest in competing. I know first-hand just how important the email link is to timely communications. - Grandad

If it comes down the wire and you havent gotten a response to a PM, a MOD can check to see if they listed an email address when they registered. If so, that MOD can try to email them directly.

Fun Times and i sent a few emails last year trying to reach nominees that didnt respond to a PM. Email didnt get any results either, but we tried.

If you see them posting in a forum thread, post in the same thread asking them to check PMs.

I have been a member of this site for a little over 2 years now and am always amazed to see the rebirth, creativity and craftsmanship our members display on their tin masterpieces. Each and every one built with personality and a style of their own, something you just can't buy from a boat dealer. So I can say it is truly an honor to be nominated for SOTY and has been a great pleasure sharing the build here.

Is there any rule against a guy nominating 2 boats? Budski's Starfire http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat...647044-2000-starcraft-starfire-1900-refurbish

Technically, John opened the thread with saying it's his son's SS. In the completed thread I said it was by budski jr. :smile:

We don't strictly adhere to Robert's Rules Of Order, we make our own rules and we follow the Torch and Pitchfork Law. Since we only want to include those that want to be judged, the builder has to confirm acceptance of the nomination. If he wants both to be voted on, so be it. The draw back is votes are diluted and split since you can only vote once for one boat.

How about some more nominations? Note there are a limited number of spaces left. Did you find your thread yet, GA?
I'd like to say that the award plaque is pretty impressive. Larger than I expected at 12" x 15".
I just added budski's Starfire. I don't see any need to restrict nominations/nominators.

I didn't do anything to my boat except run it all summer, Grandad. It's a total rat boat. :eek: I was joking about it when I placed Willy's Chieftain in the mix.

The current list of 2014 completions;

* Dozer II - 1972 Holiday, In The Red. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/owner...mercruiser-120
* SigSaurP229 - 16 foot SS, Flipper. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/owner...-with-the-16ss
* Weep'n Willy - 1972 Chieftain. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/owner...oject?t=580639
* Watermann - 1970 Chieftain, Tin Addiction. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/owner...raft-chieftain
* Cj8mule - 1974 Chieftain. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/owner...mercruiser-i-o
850Merc - 1976 SS. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/owner...ight=starcraft
Gibbles - 1963 Starchief, Dorm Fridge power. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/owner...build?t=549281
tnstratofam - 16' SS. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat-...crafts-transom
* InMotion- Sixties Falcon. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/owner...title?t=541533
* budski - 2000 Starfire 1900. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat-...1900-refurbish
iamsaws - 1972 Holiday. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat-...rcraft-holiday
budski jr. - 1975 SS by budski's son. http://forums.iboats.com/forum/boat-...-ss-16-rebuild

* - 2014 SOTY nominee

So I respectfully nominate all those with no *. 850Merc, Gibbles, Iamsaws and bobski jr. That gives us twelve.

Can we do a 12 choice poll?

Or if all 12 confirm the nomination, we'll have to ask for 2 volunteers to remove their splash from consideration?

I'll set up the poll and pretty much anything anybody needs me to do, but I don't want that ^^^ job.....

If we don't chase the nominees, I think we will have ten or less, JB. Send one PM and if no response by the deadline, not in the poll. I agree, last year was nuts because we tried to include everybody.
