It looks like a rebuild!!!!

It looks like a rebuild!!!!

I tried all the advice I've been getting. Then i broke down and took it to a mechanic. He said the engine is "locked up" and quoted me 3500 to replace it. He went through options like rebuilding, trying to free it up, replaicing hte riser, etc. But he kept going back to the rebuild or replacement. I get the feeling he wasn't trying to rip me off because he insisted that I try to get the work done at other places and suggested ways to save money. None of those ways made him any money. Anyway, what should I expect a rebuild to cost (ballpark)? Then, should I bother with a rebuild or should I go to replace? I see motors for about 2100 with a 700 dollar core, but I'll obviously have to get someone to help me do the work. I'm not above getting dirty, but I'm not a pro and I refuse to do things half way right. If I get it "freed up" with lube and an air wrench should I still be worried about the future?

HELP!!!!!

Re: you're going to laugh HARD

I think you have been answered by everyone else. But let me tell you...I asked that same question months ago. I also called it stupid. But ya know what's stupider? Not asking like my friend did and chewing up his prop on the curb because he didn't know how to push the button on the control stick to put it in neutral before he started it.:cool:

Give me a "stupid" question anyday...May they always be asked.
