Tyme2fish's post with the Angus steak got me thinking (uhoh) about my favorite foods. I just celebrated my birthday and got the opportunity to fix a few of mine:

Garlic Encrusted Prime Rib w/ Horseradish Cream Sauce (rare baby!)
Crushed Baked Potato in Buttered Cream with shredded Swiss and Bacon Bits
Steamed Asparagus w/ Hollandaise
Homemade Parmesan French Bread Crouton Stix
Fudge Sundae Pie

It was MARVELOUS!:p

Re: Your Favorite Food(s)?

1: Cheese, I love "good" cheese. Makes almost everything better if paired right.

My wife made me a gorgonzola sauce that covered a thick steak and some roasted red potatoes with steamed asparagus. I haven't had a meal better than that in a LONG time.

2: Crab stuffed pasta with ricotta and mozzerella, fresh caught by me and way over generous on crab.

My wife makes these stuffed pasta things with ricotta and mozzarella. We always use a tomato based sauce, but my friend told me it's better with an alfredo sauce. Next time :D

Anything that can be cooked on a BBQ. Slowwwww grilled baby back ribs done to fall off the bone perfection. Served up with some maple baked beans and some coleslaw. And of course a pint of Rickard's Red to top it off.

I should not have come in this thread. Going on day 3 in the hospital waiting for my wife to have this baby and eating cold pizza and crap cafeteria food. Steak, her home cooking, and slow cooked BBQ sound so damn good right now.

This thread is unfair to people who have had their food options severely curtailed. What is left when cholesterol, saturated fats and carbohydrates are essentially forbidden or severely reduced??

Re: Your Favorite Food(s)?

Food requires drink, so I've included those, too:

  • Crabs - steamed with garlic 'n' oil or Old Bay style
  • NY/NJ boardwalk style pizza
  • Philly Cheesesteak
  • Thai food - various dishes
  • Filet mignon w/ a warm blue cheese dressing
  • Asparagus, grilled
  • Ahi Tuna, grilled and rare
  • Monster Energy (blue)
  • Yeungling Lager
  • Bombay Sapphire dirty Martini
  • Supreme Protein bars <--- I kid you not

Edit: how the heck did I forget real barbeque: ribs, brisket, etc!

Re: Your Favorite Food(s)?

if it's food, it's my favorite :D

prime rib, for sure
seafood, you name it I'll eat it but crab of any species, scallops, shrimp, lobster are the favorites.
Any BBQ, I smoke a lot and do a lot of ribs (ps fall off the bone is overdone, not perfection) and pork shoulder. Sometimes brisket.
a good ribeye
I LOVE a good caesar salad too, I love salad in general but never in a healthy way
broccoli and racnh dip
I'm a cheese ***** too, I tend to like the aged hard cheeses, the really aged cheddar, some of the hard italian cheese, you name it. Good aged provolone is getting hard to find, beechers flagship reserve out of seattle is good stuff, some of the aged cabot, but I'm no snob I'll eat it if it's cheesy.
never been a bread guy, you can keep the bread

Have to deal with some similar restrictions for medical reasons. You'd be amazed at what kind of alternatives there are out there:
Bread/Pancakes/muffins made with coconut flour - no carb, almost purely protein and roughage
Stevia sweetener, 100% Cocoa & coconut oil = dark chocolate candy (almost tastes like a Mounds bar)
Meat on the bottom, sauce and cheese on the top = meat-za (not quite pizza, but works in a jam)
Virgils makes a root beer that is stevia sweetened = no carb/no cal

The original thought was that I had crohn's disease, but the pathology said no. Since then it's been all sorts of guesses, but a slow limitation of what I can eat. Wife and daughters have done their husband/dad a great turn by looking for some good alternatives.

I'll try that! Never had clam sauce. Now if I could get the water out here to calm down so I can get out in my little boat for crabbing, I'd be all over it. Rings off of the jetty just aren't the same.

man, this thread is killin me right now, forcing down this dry pbj. :(

One thing I forgot to add....HOMEMADE FLOUR TORTILLAS!!!

Nice! My ribs would do for the get together.. My Mom did catering as a side job most of my life and all 3 of us kids learned from making 20 gallons of pasta sauce at a time..lol

I have been eyeballing the get together, just have to make sure I am not travelling those days...
