Re: Your favorite drummer

No one mentioned Lars from Metalica?

Lars is in there. I was fifteen when Hold Your Fire came out. I was already a RUSH fan, so my overly indulgent father drove me an hour and a half to Memphis on a Tuesday night to see them. It was then that I witnessed first hand what others had tried to tell me about Neil Peart. You can tell he's amazing from listening, but once you see him live you get why RUSH fans are so obsessive. There really are no words to describe it. That applies to all three of the guys, but espcially Neil Peart. I had kind of forgotten that until I ran across a date they played in Amsterdam (I think) for Snakes and Arrows on one of Directv's free concert channels.

That Secret World lineup is the best. Tony Levin is sooooo cooool, and I love Paula Cole too.

Yeah, it's probably the most played music DVD in our house. My missus, our three boys and even the cat loves it.

Re: Your favorite drummer

Lots and lots of great drummers in this thread.
My favourites and favourite work
Neil Peart, 2112, the entire album :)
John Bonham, Moby **** and everything on Presence
I'll bring up Chad Smith's name just because I like the rythym he taps out in this video. Skip to the 4:00 mark for the drumming

Mark Zonder - Fates Warning
Mike Portnoy - Dream Theater
Scott Rockenfield - Queesnryche
Dave Weckl - Chick Corea

Gabriela - Rodrigo y Gabriela; not a drummer, but unbelievable percussion, all played on her guitar, while playing rhythm!!

Since Genre wasn't defined, I'll go with Robert Greenidge. I love those steel drums. As to rock and roll, I think most of the greats have been mentioned already.
