Why do you think the bearings are bad? Have you had them apart and inspected them? Either way, trailer bearing sizes are fairly standard, just get the numbers off them and go to the nearest auto parts store. (note: replacing races can be a pain without prior planning, ie, tools) Or if a trailer/boat store, just buy new hubs with the bearings already installed.

Yup. They are pitted with corrosion, as are the races. Seals are shot. They are older parts, so non standard sizes, the new brake sets wouldn't fit in the drums, the spindle won't fit the new available hubs, and the new hubs won't fit into the original rims. I'm sure I could get some parts shipped, but I can't wait for next week for them to get here. I'm just waiting for a specialty trailer store to open, and I'll see what they can do.

Have a safe trip man! On the return trip, let this sink in....

"I am rebuilding a small apartment, that's inside a boat, that I am also rebuilding. This is going to take me a large amount of time and a small pile of money, and that's ok."

:thumb:

Truer words were never spoke. Luckily, I was able to find everything I needed at Larry's service in Sudbury. All she needed was new axles, U bolts, free hubs, brakes, brake drums, a trailer wiring kit and a 7 pin harness, tires and rims.

I no longer have a small pile of money. :)

Let's just hope I dont have a similar experience when I go to pick up the donor boat next week.

Good thing she wasn't one of those "free" boats!

You must be about ready to finish the return trip. Got any gas money? LOL

Have good trip home!

At this rate I might need it. I'm now getting a leaf in a leafspring replaced (non standard spring, no replacements available). Oh yes, and a breakaway kit.

Lucky you. :(
Glad you found/got the parts.
That's quite the adventure so far from home.

Yes. And a video of it too. It's in storage, waiting for spring. Just got to get time to get the video edited and posted.

That boat is awesome! Can't wait for the rebuild thread. Hopefully the video shows us some more of this beast.

The Yellow Submarine should be coming out of storage in the next couple of weeks. Here's the video I promised....somewhat overdue.

Great video Peter, she looks like a great candidate for an Alpha 1 220HP 4.3 donor transplant.:D

If you know of one, let me know. I'm looking (I have a thread going elsewhere).

I would opt for a MC 5.7 260 hp for that big beauty.

Just looked at one, but there was something seriously wrong with it. I'm keeping my eyes open for a donor boat. My preference is a 5.7, but I'll happily put in a 4.3 and would also do a 5.0.

That will be a nice boat. Is there a head?
Where will you be using it when you're done?
