I have a 15 HP Johnson Model J15ECDE Serial E6172822 motor that a friend bought used. It says on the side to use 100:1 oil mixture. Can this be right? I've never heard of oil mixture less than 50:1. He tried 50:1 and said it smoked too much. He is currently using 80:1. Anything you can tell me about this particular motor would be helpful. We are going fishing tonight and I don't want to row home!

Thanks,

Tom Travis

50:1 is what you want, 100:1 was revised by omc

In agreement with Paul Moir, I've found the Johnson XD30 oil to smoke less than the Wally World stuff. I have not done any scientific tests to support this observation nor am I posting this to start another oil thread. :)
