I take good care of my engine and I run it every week or at least every other week even if I don’t take it out on the water, I still run the engine for the last couple of years now today I go out for memorial day of the engine won’t start. I tried running at five or six times for about 10 or 15 seconds so I realize it’s not gonna start.
I’m not sure why, but I decided to go check the oil on the engine and the oil was high on the dipstick. I panicked a little bit and so decided to extract the oil and look to see if there was any water or fuel in there. it does not smell like diesel fuel, and there was no water and in fact there was exactly 2 quarts, which is what the engine cost for when I removed it so I think that that issue was that the oil was pumping in the top of the engine and dripping down on the dipstick, which gave me a false reading
So then I’m left with the engine won’t start and it’s the first time it’s happened to me. The fuel filter is not clogged and it’s clean oil. I scrubbed the tank a year ago and maintain it full of good fuel. There is no sediment or water visible in the filter with the glass bowl in the bottom
Should I call a tech and have him come out and do a regular yearly maintenance and troubleshoot starting issue?
Or should I try bleeding the fuel system myself and figure it out
Thank you for your opinions
