Yamaha Starting + tilt/trim problem

Just as the title says I went to start the engine for the first time this season. I only get a click when hitting the trim/tilt switch and there are no alarm sounds when turning the key to run. I do hear a slight buzzing/humming soud when in run but thats it. The motor will turn over but I didn't get to try to start it since my flushers fell apart. I'm assuming it probably wont start at the moment anyway. Anybody have any advice an where to start troubleshooting?
The motor is a 96 250 hp.

Battery is charged and I cleaned the conections, however I'm not sure of the status of the cables. I'm going to run some cables from a battery right to the engine bypassing the boat cables and see what happens. Its just weird that it can turn over so its seems like its getting power.

Cables were fine. Got it started but still no alarm when first turning the key. I thought that was supposed to happen when first turning to run position??? Unfortunately the trim pump is shot so I'll have to deal with that next.

I thought the duel motor setups alarm tested at key on but not singles.
Pull safety lanyard and alarm should sound when turned to start
