Yamaha Max RPM

I have a 2003 Yamaha 175 HPDI engine and I am trying to re-prop my boat correctly. What is the max RPM for this year of engine? The Yamaha website list 6,000 RPM but I have been told this is for the newer HPDI engines. Is the RPM max for mine 5,500?

you may want to look at the yamaha performance bulletin reports.

select 2-stroke
115-175 hp range
All boat types
All manufacturers

once the list comes up, select View Archived Bulletins.

You may find your boat or one similar in size/weight.

Thanks Rodbolt..!

Cousinabe, I looked at the website and it looks like they only tested two boats in my category with this HP. They were a stratos and a Warrior. The weight of the boats tested were close to mine (Triton 189). The speed they had was little better then what I am seeing with the prop I tried last night.

Current Prop- Mercury Vengeance 3 Blade (21P)
WOT 6,000 RPM 52 GPS

Test Prop- Powertech OTC-4Blade (19P)
WOT 5,300 RPM 48 GPS
