Has anyone had experience repowering with a Yamaha inline 4 cylinder 200 hp? I have a 1988 22 ft mako and would like to repower placing a 200 hp 2 stroke. Was wondering if I would be happy with the inline four?

I'd expect that set-up to be adequate for normal use. What is the maximum HP rating for your boat(usually on that capacity plate on inside of transom)?.....Most folks would consider at least 80% of maximum HP the hull is rated for to be the minimum for most normal operation....

Only issue I see is the weight difference. The 4 stroke weights more then the 2 stroke. Also with the added weight on the stern there can be an issue of wave water coming in the stern where it didn't use to and proposing. Look at the Boat US and Boating Mag have write ups. Search 2 stroke vs 4 stroke repower
