Yamaha F90 Oil Change

How do you get the oil filter off without spilling oil out of it ? ( asuming that you have already pumped the oil out of the crankcase as the manual suggests )

Just lay a couple of rags into the bed pan around the filter. The oil should have drained out of the filter into the crank case.
