I recently bought a used boat with a 2000' 200 HP Yamaha 2-stroke.

You have a 2001 150 HPDI w/ 25" shaft motor. You better do some research on this motor. They are a little finicky and require proper upkeep. If you're gonna be a do-it yourself'er on this motor, get an OEM service manual, make sure all tech bulletin updates have been applied and change all fuel filters. I have read posts about detonating a piston due to fuel restriction issues.

Thanks. I have read up on it and am doing all maintenace required since I do not have the past maint. record of the motor. My other question is will a 200 cowl fit a 150?

Yes they fit ..... you def have a 150hp motor according to the serial ... but like I say they do fit, it is basically the same motor ...
