Yamaha 40 hp 2 stroke tach hookup

I have a 2000 yamaha 40hp 3 cylinder 2 stroke tiller motor. Looking to install an aftermarket tach in the boat. I found a square 4 pin plug under hood which I believe is for tach but being aftermarket tach I won't be able to Be plug and play. Does that plug have switched power as well as the signal wire to the tach? I plan on tapping into that plug if possible. I need to know what color wires do what please. Thank you

The rectifier/regulator has two green wires. One of which has two bullet connectors. One of those two are for a connection to a tachometer. For the RPM signal.

OP we have no idea what that 4 pin connector is, but maybe a pic might help.

I have a 2 wire female plug with green and a green with red wire. Also have a 4 wire male plug with grey, pink with black stripe, solid black, and a orange. Both plugs are not plugged into anything. Also have 3 loose unplugged wires, one green, one black, one yellow

the single green, black and yellow look promising .
yellow for key on 12+, black for ground/negative, and green for tach signal.
should be easy to test to make sure

Awesome. Yes I'll check those 1st. Do you know how many poles I need to select. Aftermarket tach. 2000 40 hp 3 cylinder
