I have a 2000 yam SX225TRY, at 4000-5000 rpm the engine bogs down/ stalls, I have good fuel supply to the fuel pumps so maybe fuel pumps, carb's, or a electrical problem? I 'd like to rule out the electrical problem.
thx
Never mind, 3 new fuel pumps did the trick.
I'm putting three new ones on the starboard side also. Took about 1 hour to change them out. Runs nice at WOT.
like i say on a yammi every 3 years replace the fuel pumps. at least once per year clean or replace the VST filter. on the hpdi motors every 200 hours or yearly for the medium pressure filter.
clean filters are the key.
good luck and keep posting
Also, I saw you talking about,
Vapor seperator sensor
T-stat's
pressure valves
poppets
And the carbs, how long till a rebuild or can I treat them w/ anything to prolong thier life w/o rebuilds.

thx
hello
the vst filter is located in the tank on the port fwd side of the engine. remove the screws and the 3 bolts that hold the tank to the crankcase and you can access it. its expensive.
the O2 sensor takes a 22mm o2sensor tool to remove. I always remove the holder from the block as well.
the O2 sensor is located on the portside hih on the #1 cyl. it has a black plastic cover and 4 small wires.
you will need a gasket kit to clean it.
you have no carbs. its injected.
good luck and keep posting
RodBolt:

I have to try and clean my VST Filter too on my '98 250hp Ox66. I get a hesitation when the boat hits a wave/wake.

How do I de-pressurize the VST ????

Also, if I understand correctly, the screws that hold the "tank/resevoir" part and those that hold the VST to the block are the only things necessary to remove. Is that correct??

Thanks for your help.

John
no need to depressurize anything. yes the phillips headed screws that hold the resevoir in place and the 3 6mm bolts that hold the tank to the block
good luck and keep posting
