I thought it would be Stars and Stripes vs. 3 Kroner this year for the Gold....glad I'm not a betting man.

Me to but the US laid an egg, not to take anything from the Russians or anything, but if you can't stay out of the penalty box your not going to win many games, needless to say I am Fully on board the Canadian Bandwagon for the remainder of the tourney!!

its to bad logistics wont allow for a "best of three " game series in the quarters, semis, and finals , this "lose one game and yer done" does not show what a team really is made of. jmo

I agree, however, this is the way this tourney has been as long as I can remember, they knew that, that's how it is so no excuses, with the level hockey that is being played now this tourney is all about who peaks at the right time, and Canada appears to be that team that is peaking at the right time, USA peaked last year, Sweden the year before that, we(USA) have no excuses, would I prefer a series? Yes, but we don't have that, I would prefer the Olympic Hockey Medal round be a series as well but we have the tourneys we have.

Anyway, You guys get to see me make my promotion backing Canada which I have no issue with, I'm just a little bitter that the USA is not there, you guys all know I prefer the Gold medal game be USA vs Canada, I think they are the best two teams year in and year out but oh well.

Go Canada!!

...I didn't catch the game Lipp but I saw the highlights. It looked like the U.S kids had a jump on them until those 2 major 5 on 3 penalties....which is when things sort of went south.
Again, like NWcove mentioned...when you get into the single game scenario they are all nail biters and one bad game can send anyone packing...as we know very well from the last few years.
Hopefully, this year we can keep 'the pedal to the medal' as per Brent Sutter's demands....and he is a very demanding coach. (my wife joked that there is rumor he smiled once in 2008...but it was just a rumor)
Oh yeah...and congrats on the new rank!
