How do you guys winterize your ficht outboards? I have a 2002 200hp ficht, do I have to run antifreeze through the motor?

Re: Winterizing a ficht?

Just had mine a 2000 200 hp Ficht winterize yesterday. I watched the mechanic which is suppose to be one of the best around on the engines do it. Don't know if you have to but he did. He also changed both fuel water separators. Also with a fitch outboard it is very important to change the spark plugs and make sure they are gap properly. If you have a good one, you have a good motor. Mine was surging and not idleing good this year. needed a computer which DFI did and got the mechanic to changed the plugs. Now the motor runs the best it has ever run.

R-V is not a bad idea for a FFI, sometimes the vapor separator tank would not drain properly and would freeze and push the top cap up and a fuel would was the result, once the cap was deformed you had to buy a the whole unit.

it's the black canister on the back of the engine, It's where water cools the returning fuel from the injectors, and vents fuel vapors back into the intake.
