Trust but verify. I always follow up behind any contractors work the best I can. If I have the oil changed in a vehicle I always check it afterwards. Case in point: I had new HVACS installed at the house. The basement one is high efficiency meaning it has the PVC pipes running outdoors. The travel for the pipes was above a drop ceiling so you couldn't see it unless you made an effort. Well I decided to make an effort. Glad I did. I found that one pipe was cut and laid in the opening but never connected.

We used it about 5 hours and then it overheated.
If there was a plug missing or a hose off you would have seen the temp going up well before an overheat,or hear the alarm at 200 deg not after 5 hours. Plus your bilge pump would be running continusly.
Now on land ,on muffs you hear water, stick your head in there and see where its coming from . post pics of the block areas under the manifolds,

I always replace the plugs when when I winterize & cost the threads with Evinrude gasket sealer. Check for leaks at initial start up in spring. If you want relatively trouble free boating it’s wise to learn to look for. A little prep work goes a long was….
