I thought I would try starting a topic on Winner Cougar's. Mine is a 1974 with the original Chrysler 135. Need new carpet and a little work done on the seats. Please post any pictures you have of your Cougar. Thx

I think these boats did not have wood in the stringers.----Still used plywood in the transom though.-----Put a new transom in one about 15 years ago.

Yes all fiberglass stringers, they called it grillage. There is some very interesting information on this website. I got it from the patent# on the back of the hull. It shows wood in the floors but does not address the transom. My boat has plywood backer under the gunnels and in the back. It looks like about 1/2" plywood. All in good condition. I was told my boat was garage kept most of it's life. I got this boat for $1000 with a Chrysler 135hp. They couldn't figure out the motor and could find someone to fix it. Turns out someone messed up the jets on the carb. Bought a whole rebuilt set on email and not it runs good. Not like the newer motors but motors didn't run that great back in the 70's
