What do you think? I think they will come out strong and put the Flyers away! This is the Pens last game till the Finals.

Unfortunately, with my schedule today I didn't get to see much of it, but what I did see was pretty impressive. Pens will be hard to beat at home in the finals ... but the Red Wings (or the Stars) will be tough competition. It should be a good Finals. Go Pens!

I missed the game yesterday, having made the mistake of thinking it would be on around dinner time (p.s.t).
However I did get the 'news' about it....wow. Apparently the Pens decided to shut it down for the ol' Flyers and put them out of their misery.
They are going tough to stop now.
Great hockey tho' all around.

Penguins in 6. Zetterberg and Datysuk, although talented, are getting tired. Plus Datsyuk can be a hot/cold kind of guy despite his talent. I would guess the guy on Detroit to watch would (again) Lidstrom....he could lead them further than my estimates. Detroit definitely has more experience going into this final round but Pittsburgh is way heavy on young talent who seem to be defying gravity right now.
Anywhooooo, it will be smokin' hockey tho' either way.

I like the way they way you think, Big Prairie. I would have preferred Dallas, cause then the Pens would be the home team, and they are 8-0 at home in the playoffs! But then they are 4-2 away, which ain't bad either!

I gotta see how both teams play out of the gate to decide how many games, and who will take it all, but I will be rooting for the Pens the whole way! Unfortunately I will be away and out of sight of TV's over the weekend, so I will have to wait till I get home Monday night to see how they faired (unless I get a wifi feed in the area, which is always a possibility ...)

Z and Dats tired? What???? They've been through this before unlike their young counter parts from the steel city.

I like my boys chances in this one. Pitt has been playing really good hockey lately, but I still believe experience counts and the Wings have it. The key to the series is obvious the 3 centers that the Penguins can employ. Fleury has yet to see the number or quality of shots the Wings will throw at him. Unlike many teams Detroit can and will employ all 4 lines on a regular basis and with the way the 2nd and 3rd D pairings have been playing they can match up well with any line. Regardless of my bias though, this won't be like the last 3 cups the Wings have won, it's gonna be a fight and a good one to watch.

Oh and fwiw, the Wings have lost only 1 time at home.

One thing that irks me, why are they having 5 days between the last game of the conference finals and the start of the SCF?! Just a another brilliant idea by the NHL brass.

I agree with ya, Dale, on the layoff. Wish it was starting tonight! And you are right on the experience thing, but I have been impressed with the way the young guys have been handling themselves so far. No celebrations after the wins, just another step to their final goal, etc. I think coaching in this situation can be more important than experience, if you have guys that want to learn, and these young guns seem to want to learn.

That said, I also believe it is going to be a tough series - and I wish we were playing Dallas instead of Detroit (no offense, Dallas fans).

I hope we can keep up the level of play we have been - Fluery has been doing great in the pipes and the offense has been ticking (51 goals to 26 goals in the playoffs, o something close to that).

Yep, it should be an enjoyable series. May the best team win. I wish you luck Detroit fans, your team is gonna need it! ;) :)
