Will Hypalon glue work well on canvas?

I know someone with a cut convertible top and was going to use Hypalon glue from West Marine to try putting a patch on it, but the man working there said it probably wouldn't work for canvas. Does anyone know if it would or not?

Thanks for any help or suggestions!

It might hold about as good at Elmer's glue.

Just Google canvas glue and you'll find a bunch of products that will work.

I seriously doubt it. There are all sorts of products available for patching canvas (are you sure it's canvas and not something like Sunbrella?), and they all probably cost less than hypalon adhesive. That said, if the cut's not too bad I'd likely just put some Tear-Aid on both sides and call it a day.

I put a hole in my canvas cover (stuck on a cleat and I pulled too hard ) and patched it with a Bondex Iron-On patch from WalMart. 1" beyond rip on the top and 2" beyond the rip on the underside. Worked well and a couple of patches were only $2. Bondex has sheet iron-on adhesive, so you could bond a large patch over the rip. Though I'm not sure how it would hold up over the long term, for a big rip...
