Will a long upper gearcase work on the short gearcase stringer 800?

Hi everybody I just toasted my upper gearcase on my stringer 800. I found a good upper on craigslist but it's a long and I have the short. Will the internal parts be the same? Can I buy it and use it for parts? Thanks in advance

Obviously the gear ratios have to match. the bearing housing is different as are the shafts,exhaust hsg, and top cover. I think the hole where cable goes through is different too. do some more research but i think i am remembering correctly. good luck Bill
