Will a Johnson generator fit a Evinrude ?

I have a 1970 Evinrude 40 hp model 40053a and they do not come factory with a generator just a eletric starter. but do come with a generator on eletric shift models. I bought a Johnson 1970 40 hp generator & bracket plus regulator & belt & studs & bolts. In my service Manual it looks like it the same. Do you see any problems?

Well, since Johnson parts are inferior to Evinrude parts, it wont work as well as an Evinrude generator. But it may get you by.<br /><br />Seriously -- it should be fine. All the mounting bosses should be there. Just hold the bracket up to the block and see. <br /><br />Man, I really am bored.....

Thanks I sure it will work the bracket on a Evinrude looks just like the Johnson.

wondering if all worked out for you. I am looking for one myself for my 40053a. no luck yet
