Sounds like the questions that my grandkids ask me. Just wish I was smart enough to answer some of them.

Why does the sun lighten our hair, but darken our skin?
Because the UV effects of sunlight change the melanin in the hair which is dead cells anyway.

Why can't women put on mascara with their mouth closed?
Why can't women do anything with their mouth closed?

Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?
It depends, some glue needs oxygen to harden, others dry out but stay wet and moist inside their container. Also some glue containers are made out of plastics that glue will not stick to anyway once the solvent has evaporated. And finally according to a physics professor from the internet: """ Glue is simply an inert substance, into which are placed many millions of tiny genetically modified octopi. While they are in the bottle they hibernate, but when they leave the bottle they automatically grab hold of whatever is near them with their tiny suckers and refuse to let go. This is how glue works."""

Why don't you ever see the headline "Psychic Wins Lottery"?
I have.

Why is "abbreviated" such a long word?
I don't know, why does monosyllabic have five syllables? :D :D :D

Why is a boxing ring square?
It was originally circular, but slowly became its square shape. But the ring is also the small circular ring where the boxers start the match. (I THINK)

Why is it called lipstick if you can still move your lips?
Because it sticks to your lips, it is also a stick of color for your lips, see answer to question number two.

Why is it considered necessary to nail down the lid of a coffin?
In the old days people you were buried with your valuables. nailing the coffin shut prevented people from taking them. (I am not sure if this is true)

Why is it that doctors call what they do "practice"?
Because they practice medicine, it is an educational field.... ;)

Why is the third hand on the watch called a second hand?
Because it moves by the second.

Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?
Everyone is rushing to get home or go to work which causes congestion on the roadways.

Why isn't there a special name for the tops of your feet?
Metatarsus?? well those are the long bones.

You know that little indestructible black box that is used on planes? Why can't they make the whole plane out of the same substance?
The aircraft would be way too heavy, also there would be no way of protecting the occupants inside the aircraft. Even if an aircraft was light and indestructible, any living occupant inside would die if the aircraft crashed. ( a bad crash like hitting a mountain)

Why do you need a driver's license to buy booze when you can't drink and drive?
Your drivers license serves as your ID. You can also use your military ID, SS card, and sometimes a non driving state issued ID to purchase alcohol. (in some states)

HOW DO I CONTROL THE BOLD AND ITALICS!!! I still miss the old forums :(
