Just bought another boat, which has a 15 hp Chrysler outboard on it. I found the original sales invoice which shows it was purchased in June 1975. The guy I bought it from, said it has no kill switch, and the only way to shut it down, is to pull out the choke. Over my 79 years, I've owned a bunch of boats, big and small, but this is the first I've came across that had no kill switch. If this is the way Chrysler made them back then, I'm wondering if there may be an after market kill switch that can be installed ?

Idahored yes "early" Chryslers had no killswitch BUT 1975 in those days it should have.

I know prio about 1972-73 you have to choke the small Chrysler to shut them down.

There are aftermarket kill switches, buy one with normaly open function.
If the engine has points ignition system connect one wire at each points and connect them to the switch.

It should make a short between the points when you push the button to shut it down.

The diagrams I've seen show a yellow wire at the starter solenoid going to a neutral safety switch.

Maybe Chrysler figured that they would die on their own, so why bother with a switch?

None of my 50s or 60s Johnsons have kill switches. Just throttle it down to nothing.
