Why is the French so disliked among us

I certainly don't care to ever own any Renault, peugeot, or citroen cars. BUT.. I love french women though the ones with hairy armpits won't ever be on that list, however their cheeses, wines and delectable culinary offerings i do have considerable cravings for. I do not hold all things french to be bad, their national political view of the world is seldomly aligned with mine, but i do not find myself disliking or hating the French as some of you, who most probably have never met or known a French person in your entire life.<br />Why is it that you dislike or hate the French?

For me it is kinda just a joke, but you don't want to get our UK friends started. Ooops, you just did.<br /><br />They were at one time the center of culture etc. and I think hold some resentment that they aren't necessarily all that anymore. The brits have pissed them off more than once, like when they decided the 0 meridian was in England not France. The current thing for me is their attitude about Iraq and the oil thing. They were the ones that held the majority of those oil contracts, but they often act as if they are above simple things like economics . . . I do business with a couple of French manufacturers. They can be pretty tough to deal with in that regard too, but so can we . . .

The French do know how to eat. Love French cuisine, wine, cheeses.<br /><br />Don't like the French attitude toward our foreign policy.<br /><br />That's enough.

I dont know a french person. So I respond to their history and the latest events in foriegn affairs and the middle east. <br /><br />They openly dislike us. They sell and make arms for our enemies and theirs. They harbor terrorists and as of a week or so,....radical/terrorist foriegn youths,.. instead of safeguarding the public and its property.

I like french fries, french toast, french bread ... So there, the french aren't sooo disliked. In fact, I think I will go to Wendy's and get a burger, drink, and FRENCH FRIES tonight for supper so I can start saving for my free flight to Florida to do some fishing.

overall, the french dislike us, so why not dislike them right back. mainly bad attitudes and think they're better than us. which is funny, because, the only war they ever won was against themselves. which is a war i'm still engaged in. my french half hates my norwegian half, my norwegian half hates my french half. i just can't beat myself, this sucks.

The French only care for the French. Plus past history makes them an easy target. As the saying goes France would de a great place if it weren’t for the French.

I know Lance Armstrong loves the Frence...loves to whoop that arse anyways...Greg LeMond liked whooping that arse too. Maybe they are pissed at us because we keep kicking their butt at the Tour de France. I generally ignore the whole thing...

Because they are arrogant.<br /><br />They are not liked downunder. Their nuclear bomb testing and their contempt for the NZers have cemented that sentiment.<br /><br />IMO, as for the U.S., The french lost face when you saved their collective bacons in WW2.

Pathetic reasons thus far. I highly doubt the French care much about what the US says about them but more importantly, I suspect they don't slander Americans to the extent the French are unfairly ridiculed.

The French have cultivated their place in history<br />and are well deserving of the contempt that make<br />them ready targets for ridicule around the world<br />dating back long before ethnic racism was a nasty thought.

100% If there is one thing that we scots and english agree on we hate those sheep burning ,mouldy cheese munching,garlic stinking frogs ....ps french cars look good but can be disassemble into their component parts with a stout fingernail and a stale baguette
