While i cant watch the vid at work, I have to disagree with the title of this thread.

Anything (auto, boats) that has a incompetent person operating it is useless, except for maybe getting someone hurt.

People w/ 2WD just have have to use their brain more than a 4WD driver.

Those kids are morons and are lucky they didn't kill themselves. It looked like the driver was laughing the whole time about being stuck. If I was in that situation I would be damn near crapping myself thinking I was about to put my truck in the lake. I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't do it on purpose to have a little "fun" Who would back their truck in that far?

I've had my 2 wheel drive in some pretty good places, but I have a limited slip rear end and a bit of uncommon sense. Hopefully these guys got a little water in their gas tank as a little lesson about safety.

had a guy at the Lake Mead Callville ramp, he had a dually and a big 26ft boat, he was spinning out, so about 5 of us hopped in the bed and it was fine......

I need to take some video of the stupid things I see at the ramp....makes for good fun! lol

It doesn't matter if you have two wheel drive or four wheel drive when you back so far into the water that your tow vehicle is nearly floating....

Why on earth would ever back your truck up that far? 2wd or 4wd, it does not matter! I too would be crapping my pants, about almost loosing my truck!

Saw that one or a very similar one a while back.
Stupidity comes in all shapes and sizes and is unpredictable when it will show up.
However I think a launch ramp being on a gradient will tip certain peoples brain cells to the angle of stupidity on a regular basis.
2WD is fine when used correctly.

we have a 2wd truck...yes shoulda gotten 4wd, but overall it was cheaper and has done a good job of hauling yard stuff......which is exactly why we bought it

We have a 4WD Jimmy. Only use the 4WD for snow and ice conditions. Not needed it at the ramp yet but it's there should I need it then. Never had a 4WD before this and managed just fine without it.

This video was not about 2WD or 4WD, it was about a moron driving a truck. I would have asked for a pull out before trying to push with a PWC.

While I always own 4wd vehicles because I NEED them, I wouldn't say 2wd trucks are useless. They fit some folks needs, just like 4x4 fits others needs.

Hard to tell in the vid but I don't see any tow hooks on the the front of that truck... show of hands on who wants to get nice and soaking wet trying to strap it from the chassis. If he is keeping the power on it to avoid slipping even further back then the list of people who will get in front (or crawl under it) to strap it just dropped to about 0.

Quite a predicament.

Both of my trucks are 4WD. Don't have to use it often, however I do use it regularly. There are certain places that I go that I have to have it. Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it...

All previous trucks were 2WD and I was able to work them fine, but did need an occasional pull out of simple situations...

I do have to admit that right next to the 2wd truck sits a 4wd bronco so I guess that part went into the choice of buying a 2wd pickup.

Bought it for 1000 bucks cash. Best purchase I have EVER made!

When I was younger I used to sit at the ramp and watch idots like this get stuck all day long. They made all the classic mistakes... The whole spinning out thing often doesnt work very well, especially if you have no weight in the back. I also like the use of the jet ski to push it out, while effective I have seen owners lose outdrives and props trying to do the same thing with a larger boat. Best thing to do is get some people jumping on the back bumper and accelerate slowly or get a tow out.
