I own a 1969 25hp Johnson and a 1990 15hp Johnson. I want to buy a Tiny Tach but I see that there are 7 different Tiny Tach models. Which model works best for outboards? both with points and cdi? Thanx, Don

I have a non-contact laser tachometer (Neiko) that works with anything that rotates. I’ve used it to check the accuracy of the in-dash tach on one of my boats — useful device.

recommend one of these (about $20) if you are after something portable.

most any t-tach will do 2 strokes, note : wire leads are way to short if you a console, did find one company that made custom lengths, but with your 15hp and 25hp are probably tiller motors, also one had temp sensor built in

Most any Tiny Tack will work. And if the pickup lead is too short to put it where you want it, just splice on extra wire. It will work without any problem.
