Which Model for ordering Parts?

I have recently purchased a Starcraft 22' fiberglass boat. The title says 1979 Starcraft and the model is OFFSHOREFISH. I want to order some things for the boat but when I do a search for this model I get nothing? I can't find any model of this sort in this year range. What do I do to find out what model to use for ordering parts? I have the hull indentification number listed on the Title. Is there anywhere online I can run a search based on that? I am confused on this one. Thanks.

Re: Which Model for ordering Parts?

If the parts are parts for the hull or the interior you will not need a model number, most boat parts are kinda generic and made by many different manufacturers and the boat companies buy these parts and put them on their hull. So if you need a grab handle you can get what ever one suits you, a gauge ? which ever one suits your needs. A cleat ? Which ever one suits your needs.
Also you will be hard pressed to find any boat manufacturer that is going to support parts for a 30 year old craft. Hopefully you have a Mercury Marine engine so that parts will be available for it. The engine will have a serial number you can reference for parts.

Good luck with er.

Re: Which Model for ordering Parts?

Thanks,
I have a 250 OMC but by the looks of it I shouldn't have problems finding parts for it. The owner I bought it from gave us a company that they did all their work with. I was searching for a new canvas top for the boat. It has a cuddy cabin so right now the canvas top only goes from the windshield over the front seats. The back half of the boat is open and I was told I could I get a top that extends also. The existing canvas has zippers so I know yu can add on to it. The boat also has the snaps to button the top on when not in use but I don't know where to start looking for a top. Maybe I won't find one this old and will have to make one. Not sure. There are other minor things that I should be able to just get a generic brand as you said such as gauges, etc. Right now I am looking for a new top howerver.
