Hey all; I've started trying to revive a 1990 3hp johnson (J3BRESR) and got it running but, unlike my 8hp it doesn't have the water outlet tube under the cover. Where is the cooling water outlet? I don't know if it's not working or if it's supposed to come out with the exhaust or what. There's obviously water in the midsection, but no apparent "peeing" when it ran. Anybody know? Thanks in advance and happy boating!

It normally comes out about half way down the back of the mid section and is usually a fine spray.

I wouldnt think that motor would have a telltale (if it does its not showing in the schematics) and most of the spent cooling water would exit under the anti vent plate.....you may see a small amount from the exhaust relief port(s) on the leg.

Thanks all! Next challenge: pulling the stuck seals and bearings out of the lower unit and replacing them. I'm not going to buy all the special tools but hope to make something that will work. Ideas?
