Where's My Truck Title (update)

When I applied to get a loan for my bucket truck, they wanted the title to secure the loan. It was "We got to have it Now" attitude from them. I paid the loan off 5 weeks ago. I've called them 5 different times now and they give me a different date that it was sent out. Just how many times can the same title be sent out? Sure is aggravating when they can stumble around and not fullfill thier duties, but you forget a payment and it is a different story.

Up until it was paid off, it was "Sir you are a valued customer, we would like to help you out. Do you need extra money?" They were good on courtesy and gave us a break or two when the payment was a day or two late with no late fees. I don't think I'll deal with them anymore due to their inability to get my title back in a ample amount of time. I need the title to get my tags so I can use my truck. Wish I could charge them for having my property past the completion of the loan contract.

Any ideas that I can spark their fire to get my title?

Silly question here because I don't know the laws in your state, but if they hold the title to the vehicle do they get the parking tickets?

Time for a personal visit. If they say it was sent out, then ask to see the proof that it was sent. If they can't supply any proof, then ask to use their phone, and call the police to report your property stolen. File a police report. Then let them respond.

They're only the lien holder. SS is the registered owner....

I hate when banks pull that routine with the title. It once took me 9 weeks to get a title back!

BTW, One of the clerks said that they had to wait for the check to clear,,,,,,,WTF "I paid CASH!" I think they friggen lost it! Now how would I go about to get them to pay for a duplicate and my time? Almost like spelling WAY with an F,,,,,of course we know there aint no F in Way!

They don't keep your title in Kentucky, just put a lien on it at the courthouse and when it's paid off, they send a note to the courthouse/state that the lien is lifted.

in CA I had that problem once, the loan company is responcable for it until it reaches you! They will replace it, though it may not be as fast as you would want. Check your local laws. Here in Oklahoma it is not legal for them to hold the title.
they found mine and sent it to me 2 years after they replaced it!

SS, don't sweat it too much - if they did loose it, they are responsible to replace it. They won't pay you for your time, but they will replace it.

We dealt with this a good bit when we were in the car biz. The only time you run into problems is if you try to sell the vehicle before you get the title. Some time I have an hour free I will tell y'all that story! Involved a good customer, his brother-in-law that we did not know, the BIL's vehicle, a State Trooper's mother, and banks.

Well, its been a few more days of the mail and still no title. Guess I'm going to have to see who needs to contact the postal service to do a trace.

SBN, I think if I had gone through a bank the title would have been put on a lien through the courthouse. American General puts them in a safe in their business. I don't know why they couldn't have just handed over the title when my wife handed them the cash. I do not like getting angry over stuff like this. It just makes my days go longer it seems.

Well, the mail went today without my title. Wife wouldn't let me go ring someones neck so she calls them. Guess what?,,,,,,,,,,,,,They still have my title. It hasn't been sent out. Okay, now let me go pick it up,,,,,,,nope, wife is going to. SHe thinks I will be playing a Roy D. Mercer on their butts!

At least I should have it tomorrow (now watch it be the wrong one)

I'll RD them alright! Think I'll mess with them. I'll ask them why they gave the title to a person that doesn't have their name on the loan. Could tell them that we are no longer together and why did they do that. Yep, this will be a good one to pull the RD method on them.
