So, the disadvantage of taking something apart and so long in getting it back together- I do bag/label in excess but there is some stuff that I just tell myself I'll remember where that goes. That just never works that way does it? I just about have the transom assembly back together and putting the bell housing back on. When I did the bellows in round 1 of this project, I had lost one little part that I'm determined will put back together properly. So, on the pivot pins, in between the gimbal ring and the bell housing there is a little washer so you don't have metal on metal contact. When I lost the one side, I figured I would always be able to pull that pin out and put the washer in there once I tested the boat- I was so not confident the bellows was my leak and it wasn't so was on to round II of tearing out the motor and transom assembly. So, I had what I thought was one of the parts and when I ordered all my other parts, ordered one. "They" did not match but I thought no big deal, must have been updated since 2006. I can't get this one in there, it is just to thick and much thicker than the one I ordered. nylon washer.jpg It is a nylon type material, maybe a little more than 1/32" thick. I'm not even sure at this point if it goes to the boat. It is not one of the washers on the engine mount bolts as I have those bagged with all the other bolts for the transom assembly inner bolts.....any idea where this goes? I guess I will order another one like I ordered but now I'm puzzled that if this is not one of them, where did the one go that I did have if that makes sense? Weird! I'm going to go look at parts but I would have thought they would have come in a set of two anyway....

You forgot one thing. What drive did you tear apart and put in little bags?

Looks like the Sierra washer that I ordered for between the bell hsg and gimabl ring at the pivot pin. The white is tape over a sticky back to stick it to either the gimabal ring or the bell hsg so it stays in place while you are lining up the pivot pin. This is why it's extra thick. You can pull your pivot pins and clean up one surface so it sticks, and reassemble. Or pull off the tape, goop it up with grease and try to sneak it into place.

There are one each side, and they are a VERY tight fit. BTW, putting one only on one side, and fitting the drive, even just for 'testing', will damage your coupler...

I think what your looking at there is an actual metal washer- there is an indent in the bell housing for that to go in. gimbal ring.jpgitem number 3 which is pn [h=1]12-41721 gimbal spacers.jpg and I had ordered one of these...just ordered another. These are pretty thin, I believe there was a backing on one side that I did not remove. The part I'm asking about is larger in diameter, much thicker. I thought it might be involved with the lower steering pin as there is a washer there showing and I had a very thin shim piece of metal I thought that went there- I will see if I have a heavier washer and will pull that back apart. As far as testing, all I want to do is put the transom back together, out the outdrive back on less the motor and back it in the water to make sure it is not leaking anymore. There is no way the part I have pictured at the top will fit in between the gimbal and bell housing...This is a 2006 bravo III asy.[/h]

so....starting to think this may have been a part to my weed eater! I have ordered another spacer and should have that in a couple of days and will then button this transom assy up and get ready to put back on the boat. I will as mentioned, put the outdrive on and back it in the water to make sure there is no leaking but I"m pretty confident at this point it will be good.

How much did you have this gimbal housing apart?

That is the force reduction spacer that sits between the flux capacitor and the flux induction feed housing. Without it in place, there is no way to keep your power level at precisely 1.21 gigawatts. Do not run the system without it in place, or your destination could be off by anywhere between 1 hr, and 1 millennia.

I knew it went somewhere...either my weed eater or flux capacitor!
