When will we wake up?

Re: When will we wake up?

I took serious offense to the notion that Americans do not work hard.

My 12 to 16 hour days are proof of my commitment (to an insane assylum probably).

My time on iboats, anymore, is a break to keep my head straight, or at night-relaxing.

I work because I believe in it. I am succesful and I deserve every damned bit of it.

I am not happy about giving nearly 40% of what I make to those who come across the border and claim it just by being here. I give almost 20% of my GROSS income to charity. I give enough, thank you very much.

I'll give more, but I take SERIOUS offense when someone TAKES it from me.

Cut me some slack on the 40 and I'll give 30-cheerfully.

Believe me, I'm not happy about it either, but what's it going to take to fix the problem?

1. Make it a felony with a first time penalty of one year hard labor, second time 5 years, 3rd time 10 to enter this country illegally... and enforce it. ( hard labor is in the fields, doing just what they came here for in the first place... with an $8.00 per hr. charge to the grower... no workman comp. or matching SS.... the prison system insures them, but the money goes right back to the system) then deport them after sentence is severed.

2. Give a 30 day grace period, then start the round up.

If you don't like mine, submit your own... don't just wring your hands and ask what can we do about it.

Very simple, it's called "getting involved" ie; VOTING. Only 20% of eligible US voters are expected to vote in this years "off year" election. That's PATHETIC. There are people dying to get here to have that privilege.

If our voting block turned to 90%, regardless of who one votes for, that would wake up the political machine-BIG TIME.

We would then, again, have a representative republic.

We are NOT a democracy. We are the prior.

This CRAP about "there's nobody to vote for" is just that---CRAP. It takes a little effort to have freedom. Anything else is just plain LAZY.

Sorry, off topic

How is that off topic? It all boils down to "citizens" not giving a rip.

I must have hit a soft spot.

No, it just seems that your pet peeve is not voting.... we were talking about the solution to the Illegal Immigrant problem.

My whole POINT. If we voted, the politicians would GET IT. The immigration issue would be resolved, overnight.

Not unless WE, as voters have the solution to spoon feed them.... I've noticed a few different approaches in this thread.

What's your solution?

custom,

The sheer numbers, at 90%, would send a message that the populace is AWAKE. Right now they have no worries, because the populace is not awake.

No need to spoon feed anything. They'll ask, and listen, when people are active. They listen to their VOTING constituency now.

Have we gotten so immune to the idea that we can't see it any longer? That in itself is scary. A right that we toss away that the rest of the world would risk their lives for-sad, very sad indeed.

So exactly what is the solution you would vote for in the candidate of your choice?

You are avoiding the question... is that because YOU have no solution?... no clue... no idea?

How the he11 could your vote then make a difference?

Blunt enough?

Re: When will we wake up?

Even when 20% of the voting public votes, there is scandal and miscounts...............................imagine if we made that 90%.

I agree that if you don't vote, you can't complain............but DJ you say that all the time in here. Take a look at the political topics in here and the politically opinionated individuals. You honestly don't think that 90% of the people you are talking to here don't vote? I bet they do............

Well that's danged convenient for you DWJ... just go off line after 30 minutes with no solution.... and no vote that would count diddle.

If you want to make a difference, define your position, find like minded people, and PROTEST.

Trying to whip up the apathetic voter is like pissin in the wind... all you’ll get is your feet wet.

Grass roots worked for California on Prop 13.... file a petition, write letters to your whatever, but have a solution in your back pocket, or you’re just a crank.

I would bet that most people on this forum vote, and the problem is is that the parties-both of them-have got things so locked down that neither party ever needs to risk offering a worthwhile candidate or any realistic or promising solutions or action to any problems. It is all about staying or getting back in power so that you can collect the fat bags of dough from the lobbyists and continue to wield power for your party and your corporate constituents (the ones with the dough). Very few politicians on either side care much beyond that.

Can we get a link to that C&P lubedude?
I'd like to check their site to see if they advertise that video game that has you shooting them as they cross the border.

When you sober up in the morning, you'll see just how lame that was.
