What is this? Every so often I will get this when logging on, its something that looks like its prompting you to download the latest version of internet explorer, then the virus protection identifies it as a virus....

This is not an iBoats or forum issue. It's sneaky bosstodds trying to steal your information by inserting the update script on your machine very similar to phishing links in emails. It's probably coming in via your Internet provider. I get them everywhere and it's random. Never, never, never click on the thing!

BTW - Internet Explorer is no longer supported. Edge is the current Microsoft browser.

It is the ad that is giving it to you. I've only seen it on iboats, which is interesting because they just use doubleclick on the back end. If your connection is https (which it is by default on iboats), your ISP can not insert contents into that, it would require them to man-in-the-middle decrypt it.

Yeah, and banks and the government are unhackable. It does not just happen on iBoats.
