Have a look at the total ignition system, and be methodical.
1: You have the stator with its power coils which charges up the capacitor in the power pack.
If not charging as needed, capacitor will not be fully charged between firing and you will have weak spark or intermittent spark.
2: Trigger/sensor that tells when to fire to which cylinder. The trigger, if not mistaken sends a double pulse to the power pack. When in cold start modus, power pack reacts on the first pulse, when in normal temp modus, power pack fires on second pulse. if running ok in cold start but not normal, trigger/sensor may be faulty.
2: Power pack reacts on signals and charge from stator and trigger/sensor. In addition you have the cold start temp switch, the shift interrupt switch, the stop circuit and the alarm circuit that may act up.
In cold start modus, a speed limiter is activated cutting ignition pulses at RANDOM to keep the rpm steady at about 1100 rpm.
The shift switch cuts out stb cylinder bank when shifting.
The alarm switch(es) cuts one bank,above around 3000 rpm, the stop cuts all.
However I've seen power packs 'locking' up in the most strange ways. SLOW stays on even with no grounded alarm switch and it may even cut at random like still in cold start without the limiter active.
As a general rule when fault searching strange phenomena, start from the beginning, the stator and work through every component. Output tests overrules any static Ohm test.
