I was also wondering is it worth doing a restoration on or junking it. i could take the time but is it heard to be a quality boat? is it worth it or just a no name that no one know about. i mean if it was a chris craft there would be no doubt in doing a restoration on it but i know its not is it any value to it?

is it a quality boat? YOUR the one building it. Put as much quality as you want in it... it looks like you have to pretty much start from scratch.

Put it on Craigslist for obo, sell everything in your yard except ONE boat you want to restore, use the money you get off your sales to support your one restoration project. Young man your no different then any of us that want the world at that age but take a piece of advice, YOU CAN'T DO IT. Focus your attention on one project, complete it and then start another one.

Re: Any idea what this is?

yes, iv'e bin trying. thanks, and thanks for the good luck on the projects i think i'm going to need it for the one i just posted. I think i will rip out the deck and see what i'm working with. then if i need to replace the stingers i will and then a new floor then work on the hull. This boat i will do a lot more to, first because it need it and i'm not worried about doing big things that won't let me get it in the water like my other boat. Lil red i want in the water this spring with out any problem. so i will have a boat to drive and have fun with while being able to work on this other one.

transom..jpg That is the transom. I already sayed numerous times that i'm working on one project at a time. I'm working on my lil red boat. when spring comes along and lil red is all done and ready for the water i will start on this boat. I might start a bit early. The only reason being because i have to put in the deck in lil red but once thats done and the wiring i have to wait to spring to fiber glass the deck, and then fiber glass the hole in the keel; but in the mean time i might start and rip that apart. I don't want to put any money in to this new project until my first project is done. :)

That appears to need a new transom. You've got plenty to do with Lil' Red, and that honestly looks like it should remain a planter box. Pass.

Sorry, I first read that as "appears to be a new transom".
Yeah, that one can wait or be removed.

Re: Any idea what this is?

i keep hearing you say is it worth it?

what do you mean?.....is it worth it to fix and sell...no... if you just want to fix a boat.....well....that one will do.

but after you spend all your left over time and materials on that hull.......you are still gonna need to drop a grand on a motor.......unless you were gonna use oar locks !

oh.......after all that.......were you going to buy a trailer or wait for the next flood to float it?

i hope this doesnt sound harsh.......(it really sux not having the emotions on the forum to work with) this post is meant to sound humorous.

im just sayin' you are gonna have to spend 1500 AFTER you fix it just to run it !.....
the boat is worth 700-1000 with a motor and trailer in running condition.

Re: Any idea what this is?

hey smallboatlover,
You remind me of my son and his projects which were old snowmoblies and motorcycles. At first it was nice to see him doing something he had such a passion for but once he got up to having 4 sleds and 3 bikes around the yard and half the neighbouhood boys hanging out and a lot of my tools missing my patience wore a bit thin. D`ont gather too much junk around that your parents will get peeved at you. Stick to the one project and you`ll get more support for what you are doing.
Glad to see your spelling and grammar is improving.....your interest in this website and the skills you attain in your restorations will certainly help you later on in life. By the way my son went on to university and became an engineer and he still tinkers at bikes and sleds but in his own garage and with his own tools.

Re: Any idea what this is?

well to ooops! i know what your saying but i have a lot of left over materials. i know what your saying about how much its going to cost but you didn't know that i have and extra trailer sitting around that was on my lil red boat. i got the trailer this white boat was sitting on and put new wheel and roller, and bunks on and now thats what my boats sitting on. so i have a trailer for it and i don't plan on this boat being a small project i'm planning on it taking a year and using left over money that i don't need for any thing else. fisher guy i under stand what your saying to but this boat and 3 other have bin sitting in the yard for over 20 years so i don't think this is going to be a problem. i know what your saying about the tools i use to take my dads tools but know i boat all my own tools and tool chests/boxes. i don't need to worry about any one getting mad at me about taking tools.
