Whats the biggest outboard I can put on my 14 fts 1986 Sears Gamefisher?

So I just got a 1986 Sears Gamefisher, There reason why I got it is because of the way it looks, I like it alot, When I got it a came with a 18hp outboard but It was lock and half of the parts were missing. I been working on the boat and Today I finally got it in the water, I put my 9.5 hp outboard on it and it gos about 10 mph, which I think is fine, but I would like to go faster. Now I dont know what the biggest outboard I can put on it. Today I saw a 30 hp for sell but I dont know if its too big or what, So if anyone knows anything about this boat like specification or any information, I would really appreciate if y'all can share it with me.

Check your small aluminum capacity plate near the back of the boat for maximum number of people, weigh, horsepower. If plate is gone, I would guess about a 25HP motor would work fine.

If the plate is missing, Sears may have the info in their files. I would think 15HP is the max, but it is a guess based upon my failing memory of looking in the catalog at those boats, in the 70s.

Don't heistate, as Sears is focasted to go the way of the dinosaurs this year.

Thanks for your replys I forgot to mention that I already try with sears and the plate is missing. I also think 25hp is the biggest engine I can put on it, but Im no sure.

what is the general condition of the boat? have a close look at the transom, for any signs of stress cracks etc.

The boat should run over 20 mph with a 9.5.18-20 with 2 people aboartd.

Great speed difference between a 9.5 and a 18-20 HP engine, max speed is about right. If it can handle a 25 HP engine will handle a 30, modern models weights same, one is carb restricted, other not. Go for a 2 strokes if available. 14" boats are usually for 25/30 HP engines.

Gamefisher's are decent but they don't appear to be as well made and as stable as a good name brand aluminum boat so i'm guessing it's rated for a 15-20 hp motor. You could put a 30 on it and have a lot of fun as long as you don't get stupid you should be fine.
If your going to keep your boat just bare bones with a moderate load then a 15hp will work.
Your boat should plane out and do at least 15 mph with your 9.5. My 15' aluminum Gregor that is decked out will do 17+ mph with a 9.9. 25+ with a 25hp motor.

What are the other dimensions? If it's a typical 14x18x36 (which it most likely is) then a fifteen will be just right but a 25 will be too big. If it's wider, 42" or 48", a 25 will most likely work.

I should had probably mention that its fiberglass, sorry guys, I thinking to get a 15hp or a 25hp what do yall think?

That is a narrow boat and I recall that 15HP was max.
