Well I thought I should dust off this old thread(one of my first ever) and give an update. It's funny seeing that all of the folks that originally chimed in with responses are pretty much the entire Starcraft Club on this site. Now that's some brand loyalty almost as intense as Harley Davidson.

Anyhoo... I offered $500 back in April and the seller declined, saying that he thought he could get a little more for the old girl. Then he listed the rig with a 35hp Evinrude for something like $1250 which didn't bait me due to the fact that the motor woul've been underpowered for a 15' rated for a 70hp.

So today she shows up again on my computer screen while searching for the perfect Starcraft to restore...and with a new price...$600

So I may be able to drive away with her for $400-500 after all since it's five months later and still available. There's been some talk that maybe the model is a Nassau or possibly a Holiday so if that can be confirmed or denied it would be nice to know what I'm looking at

I love this Starcraft because I think it will fit in my garage and it needs plenty of hard work that I am more than willing to do.

Also wanted to mention that the seller informed me that the trailer does fit the boat...the winch support/bow stop needs to be moved 2-3ft forward. I will be inspecting that prior to any purchases to say the least as I do not want trailer issues like my 12' tin can box trailer debacle. Yep I need a link to the new add . I heard it had the newer style logos which puts in the mid 70's so if its 15' and a closed bow that pretty much nails it as a Holiday for the mid 70's get me the new link Huron I have ccess to mid 70's literature .

I would walk up with 4 pictures of Ben in my right pocket and 2 in the Left just in case . She is a mid to late 70's Holiday either a 15 or 16 footer . The differance in length between the 2 is 1/2" the 15' is 15'1 & 3/4" the 16' is 15' 2 & 1/4" LOL.

One more thing the 74 brochure does not show a 15' but the 77 brochure does so if it is a 15'er its newer than 74 most likely .


Hurry up go get it you only have about 10 months to get it ready for Tin Stock 2010 .

Thanks EZ and Rick for weighing in(again) I appreciate hearing from members of "the club" that actually know what they are dealing with

Rick remind me if I buy the boat and make it to the 2010 Tinstock to repay you for your archive research in ice-cold Labatt's(yes I drink Canuck beer)

Seriously I appreciate the effort to get her ID'd...not that I wouldn't buy her without knowing her name...kind of like hooking up with a hot chick if you don't know her name, not necessarily a dealbreaker

Well I hope it is the 15' Rick since I may not have the extra 1/2" to spare in my dimensionally challenged garage.

So I do get paid a bonus check in a few weeks so maybe I'll rustle up myself a new tinny to keep me busy over the winter

BTW my girlfriend told me that we should buy a SC because she wants to go on vacation out of state soon(Tinstock) now that are little ones are more travel friendly. Didn't think she'd be the one convincing me to go! Whatever works I guess I'm not complaining.

LOL Huron I have a 2&1/2 car garage and havent managed to get mine in the garage . There are parts of her in here just not the whole boat . I gree with your GF you need to go get it Hell Kev already made you an Honorary member of the Starcraft club so you might as well have one . Measure her from the transom to the tip of the bow and I will tell you for sure also the ID plate should be on the Starboard side up near the dash and the model number and name should be on that plate which will tell you the year and what she is for sure but I am betting on mid to late 70's Holiday .

Why not measure your garage first, then take a tape measure over when looking at the boat? Don't forget to measure trailer width, also (this is the reason my boat isn't in my garage).

I ditto the above advice. Talk with him a while, then fan out 5 $100 bills. I've noticed most sellers are more likely to cave when they see the cash laid out before them, and all they have to say is yes.

Take the other $100 just in case....

You may want to take over the appropriate bill of sale (for your state) also, in case he doesn't have all that stuff ready. It might get you out of there quick enough before he changes his mind.

I almost bought a 16' Starcraft that came with a 7.5 Mercury outboard(underpowered maybe? LOL) and I had measured my garage and it gave me about 10" of leeway. Probably better if I get a 15' and I can always convert the tongue to a swing-back to save a couple feet. I won't let the length of my garage keep me from getting it I've thought that thru

Well...I get my bonus check a week from today...I also am driving 4 hours north the next day for a much needed ten day vacation in my own personal paradise of the family property on northern lake huron Will be taking out the brand new Evinrude 60hp that my dad bought this week and having some fun.

So I will be contacting the seller(again) and trying to get him to hold onto it for me which may mean I have to pay the asking price but such is life...

Ya know..if he doesn't move it by the time you get back from a fabulous vacation (sounds great!) You may not have to pony up his full $$$..

If I got my usual June bonus I used to get...wow..kinda scary..I could have bout that 18 ft SS, and an old Chieftan for sale in Tampa, built em both, finished my Holiday AND take a week off to fish em all!!

now I'm upset over the whole economy...dang!

Here is where I will be for 10 days

This is the 17' that just got repowered with a new Evinrude 60hp 2 stroke

24' Seaswirl Striper...the salmon fishing rig

225hp Yamaha, 8hp kicker

So I'll be motivated to get back home and buy the SC after having fun next week
