Hello Popup target<br />I have lived in Israel for 28 years and fought in its wars.Are we afraid of terrorists?You bet!Does it stop us from exercising our freedoms?We try not to.It does have a scary effect on the entire nation in that by now there is a whole class of "Security People" who can only see in terms of security and racism(although understandable) is not far behind.In Israel we have seen that,hiding behind security reasons many corrupt things have been done.Especially because secret services very often are only judged by their own people and therefore protected from real scrutiny.<br />I just hope that Americans never have to go through this.<br />The way we dealt with suicide bombers in Lebanon was simple.Every car had to have 2 passengers of different age or different sex.A single driver was fair game...<br />We found out pretty soon that we could not care less about what lofty reasons there were for our presence. The feeling that all you want to do is get home in one piece and nothing is going to stop you from that,even if you have to do some shooting, is scary in retrospect,but it turned us into real effective soldiers.It also did get us home.
