What would cause this loss of colour in the gel coat?

Hi all,

Continuing my adventure with my new boat. I have noticed that an area of the gel coat has lost its black colour and it looks like its see through? I have not rubbed or hit this area whilst boating.

I welcome any input and suggestions to what's gone wrong here.

Cheers.

Brand new boat with a warranty, or a use older new to you boat?
Hard to tell in the grainy photo what is going on. Looks like a water spot

Brand new boat with warranty. I’m going to discuss with the dealer but I’d like to get some other opinions on it. I used a cleaner/water spot remover and it did nothing.

In person it looks like it’s lost colour and you can see down to the fibreglass below. I can get some other photos.

If you see the glass thru the gel, its a quality issue. Take it to the dealer

Unsure if I’m seeing fibreglass. Just my assumption from how it looks. It’s still smooth and no physical damage.

It’s up on the bow area above the rubber rail on the boat. I’ll look to get some photos further away. I posted two more above.

Do you have fenders in that area? Almost looks like it's been rubbed a bit. We have some at the marina that have those cloth covers over the fenders, the cloth collects dust/dirt and rubs the gelcoat like sandpaper.

No fenders. But it looks like it’s been rubbed and lost colour. Unfortunately that’s not happened so can’t explain it. Dealer has no idea either and is sending images to the boat manufacturer.

Got the boat back. Dealer is suggesting it is bruising from impact because their is marks on the rubber. We haven’t actually impacted the boat on this area and I’ve never heard of bruising on a boat, or could someone enlighten me? I’ve also found images from the day I picked the boat up and you can notice the white mark, it was never as prominent.

Any thoughts on what’s actually causing this? Is bruising correct? Hopefully these images help.
