what was just given to me????

just had an older motor given to me, its in BAD shape but the powerhead feels like it has good comp. it loks like its been painted many many times, so i cant tell what the original colour was. the model /serial tag is rough but im pretty sure its a model 3042 evinrude. what is it?

pretty sure youve got a 1962 3hp lightwin pretty cool little motors ... heres your parts manual

yep, that looks alot like this motor!......except i didnt notice the big bead of weld on the gearcase, or the piece of 3/4 galvanized pipe flattened out and bolted to what was left of the skeg? could the parts list for this motor be wrong, or maybe this motor has seen better days? lol

my bet is on better days however you can get good used parts for this fairly cheaply on ebay and aomci.org post in their "webvertise" section what you need and a part number from the parts list i gave you... theyll be glad to help you bring her back to life

Heck, Levi. It is only 50 years old. What could have happened to it in that short time??

That is one of the greatest outboards of all time and well worth restoring. She can still outlast you.

The welded gearcase and flattened pipe was optional equipment that was after market
