Re: What the heck is going on

In 1968,I could buy over 3 gallons of 100 octane, see a movie and go to the local drive in with my girl for 5 bucks.....gas was less than 30 cents a gallon for high test

In '68 I was in 2nd grade and didn't care what the price of gas was ... :D

Yea Ken, but that ain't going to happen.

Thats what the oil companies thought back in 1999. Then the asian markets crashed and demand crashed and we had 9 dollar/bbl oil.

Look on the bright side, high price of oil means the economy is doing good worldwide.

I hadn't read what this thread was about, but this morning I noticed that gas at one station that was 2.89 a gallon was 259 so I topped off my truck and my bike.

Oil hit a record 88 bucks a barrel today. Yet gas is 259. Hmm.

the price of gas has not gone up yet even thou they say record high for a barrel of oil, thier waiting on the snowbirds to all get here to FL. and other states, then they will hike it some, usally in november, but not too much, they want people to drive to spend money on christmas gifts, then raise it some more, then right before they get ready to go back in spring, they will hike the price way up and rob & rape them all the way back to thier states, while keeping the price high here untill May,then lower it like the high prices are over.. they want to make sure the snowbirds make it here and other states, they want the tax money.. the fuel prices have been going up and down like this for around 5 years here at the same time of the year,,why is it at the same time every year the price of the barrels of oil goes up???now, just seems like they wait untill the perfect shot to throw the spear...

It does seem like it doesn't it? But if you think about it, it's a perfect example of supply and demand. Except maybe they make it seem like supply is low and hiked up the price anyway due to demand. Around here and I'm sure it's similar around the country too. The price will started at 2.80 on Friday, stay the same through Sunday, gradually drop to 2.60 by next Thursday, and then bang, back to 2.80 on Friday.
