what should my tach read?

I have a 1973 cobalt with a mercruiser 165hp what should my tach read im only getting 3200 max?

Either your motor is only spinning 3200 RPMs or your tach might not be reading right.

So at WOT you're only getting 3200? you really shouldn't try to go WOT only on muffs as there isn't sufficient water.. Did you try that while out in the water?

I was out on the lake and it was my first time so i was checking to see where I was at and at 32oo even 3000 sometimes was pretty high....NEW BOAT SO COULD BE BAD TACH? Also my prop is all dinged up and messed up I didnt put the new on cause I didnt want to hit something......and i rookied it and drug my motor like an inch or so on the ground UGH!!!
