What shaft length do I need for a kicker motor?

Here is a tape measure hanging off the top of my transom. The motor won't sit very low on the perch because it is so shallow of a transom.5.jpg

Taking tips on hanging the bugger also, I don't want a jack plate.

Needs to be at least an L shaft but probably an XL will work much better powering said boat while sitting port of main..

I would suggest a long shaft. Should be good to get the prop below the hull.
Any longer and you won't be able to tilt the gearcase out of the water, and you will be dragging it around in the water when using the main motor.
