the design will be based on a typical fishing boat used by the fishermen of Bequia (pronoun. beck-way). the red one in the foreground is a good example. btw- every motor you see in the photo is a yamaha.
he wanted to do a 17ft originally, but that would be too big to store at home. it is not an inflatable.
he is spec'ing:
marine ply for the clinkers, pine for the gunnels and ribs i think, cherrywood for a use i can't remember and a wood unique to st v, greenheart, a particularly dense and obviously heavy wood (we use it at where i work as the slats in in our pallet bays) for the keel. all joints caulked & grp'd and a layer or two of epoxy. final coat to my colour choice, plus cleats. storage space under the foredeck.
fishing rod holders will be built in, as will the bimini shade; there's a sailmaker who'll make it for me, i hope.
