If the seller does not know the make/model, then it is a fair bet that they do not have the proper documentation as proof of ownership. If you are planning on buying it, you will need their proof of ownership (title/registration, etc) as per the regulatory requirements where you live.
If you did want to know the make/model, you could start be getting the Hull ID number off of the transom. The first 3 digits will be the Manufacturer's code. (assuming the boat is made in USA).

This model...although as well finished as a boat gets...was criticised here, for being a little tippy and easily unsettled. Not dangerous by any means...but not if your usual sealine stability. Lovely boats though. They haven’t dropped in value here for about 5/6 years.Thank you QBoy!!
