That's cool ^^^^ my Grandfather raced the Port Huron to Mac race a couple of times. Don't know how much racing past that, but he sailed a ton on Thunder Bay. I sailed with him on inland lakes.
Makes sense. I just built a 21’ plywood boat from Stevenson. No keel, just a keelson so the sail area (gaff) isnt that big. I just used a cam and my hand on the sheet. It must be for a larger sail. Thanks guys.
Was on an overnight trip one time helping an owner move his boat.----Heard a MAYDAY MAYDAY at 2 in the morning.----All 5 of us jumped to action.------Then realized that there is more than one area called " Thunderbay " and we were too far away to assist.------Name of the boat that ran aground was " Fast Company "-----You remember those incidents for years.

@Race1958 - Got pics? There's a fella' down by me who built a plywood sloop a couple years ago. I see him on the lake from time to time. Neat lookin' boat. Slow goer (it's not built for speed and the wind stinks on the lakes around Nashville ... hills block it out)
